“Hidden paradise with fantastic view!”

5 of 5 starsReviewed January 30, 2011

Brand new and beautifully developed low-key and small resort on small peninsula in stunning bay (fantastic views, even from the toilet!). Developed and owned by Mike from Hawaii and run by friendly Myra and their sometimes somewhat inexperienced but always smiling staff. Good food, relaxed atmosphere, great New Year's Eve buffet! Boat trips organised on demand to surrounding islands and an in-house small dive operation run by Busuanga veteran Gunter, who lives in the same bay.. Fantastic wreck diving (Japanese WW2 wrecks) at short boat rides from the resort.... + Good Value.
Mike, Myra, Gunter + team, thanks for a great stay! Jasper & Janne
PS If you want, and have the budget, you can have yourself picked up by the Sea Plane, it lands at the resort's beach....... :-)

After spending some time in the Subic bay Philippines and almost leaving the country as I was very disappointed, I found Busuanga, even more Puerto del Sol. To start with staff friendliness, I felt at home, they were very attentive to all my requests, very flexible with food requests. Having from local to international cuisine, food taste was above excellent. The bar staff was always ready to make a rum and coke and they knew exactly how I want it. The rooms were very new, well decorated and had the best view in the world. The owner is a retired architect, he really put some work on the rooms making it 5 stars level. I had a such a large area outside with a lovely sofa and hamock in which I used for reading and enjoying the beauty of the place.
Above all diving was just amazing. Staff had an amazing knowledge on the local dive sites. They have WWII Japanese wrecks all very near by, the nearest being only 100 metres away. The owner has been diving that area for more than 20 years and and had a very professional and friendly way to deal with the guests that I was going to stay in there for only 4 days and ended up staying 14 days. Did a lot of diving courses with very reasonable prices. Diving isnt expensive either and they provide both air and nitrox, courses for the very beginner all the way up to divemaster and a wide range of technical dive courses from advanced nitrox to extended range to instructor level courses( and you will be trainned by TDI regional manager Philippines, who is the owner of the Dive Centre)

I highly recomend to go there, you will not be disapointed. They simply exceed my expectation, It was SIMPLY AMAZING"

If you are looking for friendly staff, delicious food at decent prices and excellent diving in absolutely gorgeous surroundings, this is it!

My husband and I came here for three nights as a part of our honeymoon, but we would have stayed longer ,if we had had more time. The resort is located near Concepción on Busuanga Island, about an hour and a half from the airport. The road is currently being improved, so the trip will only take shorter in the future. The resort is placed on a hill side in a bay, consisting of beautiful white cottages. We stayed in one of the suite cottages, which is actually two connected cottages, one section with the bedroom, and one bathroom section. Right outside the cottage is an extra pavillion, where you can relax and read a book while gazing out over the beautiful bay.

There is no beach or pool, but to make up for this you have some of the best diving and snorkling nearby. We visited white sand beaches, snorkeled in coral gardens and on a shallow wreck of a gunboat. Wreck diving on the WW2 wrecks was world class. The people at the resort are very helpful in putting together half our full day trips to see all the underwater wonders, and to make recommendations. We were one snorkeller and one diver, and we both had an excellent time. Only sorry that we didn't have enough time to do some kayaking too.

Absolute recommended! :-)

For the divers.... Equipment: the BCDs are Aquamundo. it is possible to hire twin tank sets with air or nitrox, HID torches and even rebreathers.

Fantastic Getaway

Thank you Gunter and Mike for an unforgettable experience. Was fantastic to stay at your place, the diving is of historic proportions. Remember to feed the horses, it is a long trek up to the waterfall. Will come again, and see you soon.

In general I will say: The WWII wrecks are within 10 minutes of the resort and offer divers the opportunity to explore historical landmarks of WWII. Puerta Del Sol is fitted out for recreational divers as well as Tech Divers. They have double tanks and regulators to rent, plus they are also rebreather friendly. Check with them beforehand for supply of sofnolime etc, just to make sure you have a successful trip.

Depending on the tide, the current range from zero to strong. Depths range from 10m to 40m, thus even beginner divers can explore a historical wreck. For tech divers, there is full advanced wreck penetration and exploration the insides of these old monuments.

my wife and I stayed in april 2010 for 10 days at the purto del sol, actually we wanted to stay just two nights but the place is that special, we had to sty longer....

there are around 10 whitesand lonely dream beaches to reach by boat within 15 minutes, so the place is the perfect base to stay and discover the area of busuanga and its surroundings, you can even see african animals on the island of calauit.

the rooms are big and you feel comfortable from the moment you go into the room, you have a beatiful view over the bay from the private veranda, also for the sundown. there is also a extremly well equiped dive center and a lot of beautiful dive sites within no time, especially wrecks.

the staff is very friendly and the food was very good, they helped us out with all our questions and organised the trip further on.

all in all just a perfect base to stay, and the perfect place to be in the area of busuanga. we defintely come back next year.

We would really recommend this place for others. It's located one hour from the coron airport, but they will pick you up at the airport and drive you there wich is really convenient. The villas are very nice with big panorama windows looking out over the bay. It's nice and quite. You get your own private pavallon outside your villa.

The restuarant serves good food for a normal price.

The divecenter is good organised with new good equipment. They got both recreational and technical equipment for rent for a cheap price. Gunter, the owner, is an experienced technical instructor and really knows what he's doing. Deco gases is available and of course nitrox and air from their well sealed compressor.

The best part about the resort is the location. It's located 5-15 minutes from the coronbay wrecks. The diving there is amazing, absolutely worldclass wreckdiving. If you don't want to stay in busy Coron wich is far from the divesites, this is the place to stay!
